Pre-admission verification

In December, a random sampling of applicants are selected to verify information in their application. Applicants are asked to provide documentation to verify one item from sections on the UC application including academic history, honors and awards, extracurricular activities, volunteer work and community service, special program participation, employment, or information contained in the personal insight responses.

Within the emailed instructions for verification, applicants are provided a list of appropriate documentation. Appropriate documentation could include official transcripts, a letter from a counselor or coach on letterhead, or a copy of a certificate or award. The deadline to respond is January 31, 2021. Failure to respond to the request by the deadline will result in withdrawal of the application.

Supplemental applications

Some schools, divisions, or majors at UC require the completion of a supplemental application in addition to submitting the UC admission application. These supplemental applications may require additional materials. Examples of additional materials may include a separate application form, a portfolio, photographs, videos, or letters of recommendation. Some majors or departments may recommend or require an interview or audition. Programs requiring a supplemental application process include (but are not limited to) Landscape Architecture at UC Davis, Dance at UC Irvine, the School of Theatre, Film and Television at UCLA, and the College of Creative Studies at UC Santa Barbara.

Deadline for supplemental applications and required materials vary. Some require all materials to be submitted in December, with auditions or interviews taking place in January. Please encourage your students to check with the department and campus for current information.

For a complete list of required supplemental applications, see pages 56–57 of the Quick Reference Guide to UC Admission.

After submitting a UC admission application

After submission, applicants can log in to their application to pay any remaining fees due, to view and print a PDF of their application, and to make updates to certain information such as their personal information.

The other sections — Academic History, Personal Insight Questions, Scholarships, and Activities and Awards —  cannot be modified once the application has been submitted.

If there are changes to the academic record, including having added or dropped a course, students must notify the campuses to which they have applied (except for UC Berkeley and UC Santa Barbara).
