Jazz Piano

Guitar
"Just because you can't read... doesn't mean you can't speak"

This will serve as the motto behind my teaching style.  I will teach music not by technicalities first, but rather by experience and feeling.  For one does not necessarily need to know extensive theory to play.  I am a firm believer in getting across the feeling provoked by music rather than the technical expertise through a scientific-like fashion.  Music is not just a science, it is a feeling, a language, a culture...

Thus, the basic fundamentals will first be taught (such as chord shapes and the notes that comprise them).  It will be taught enough to the point where the students will be able to play simple songs.  After that point, it will be just a matter of playing together and showing various techniques along the way.  The hope is that the students will learn how to express themselves through their playing and allow the technicalities to come gradually in order to expand the ways of their expression.
