Job Description:
Responsible for performing non-complex field testing on mobile communication devices for assigned carrier(s) that include working in the field with development and customer engineering staff. Provide field testing of developmental handsets for customer acceptance by conducting drive testing based on internal and external requirements and using to diagnostic tools for collection of performance information. Provide technical support for problem investigation, isolation and corrective action follow-up. Operates under moderate supervision on non-complex analysis and tasks.
Responsibilities:
• Evaluates, tests, and analyzes hardware/ software for mobile communication products and accessories for the purpose of predicting failures, assessing compliance, and performance.
• Design and execute non-complex test cases in accordance with industry standards and internal/external specifications.
• Investigates failure rates, and researches and develops solutions for reducing and mitigating the effects of failures. Performs root cause failure analyses and failure modes to determine the cause and effects of various types of issues based on field test data.
• Writes and implements non-complex test proposals.
• Assists other development teams with the design and implementation of any case changes.
• Performance benchmarking to competitor/reference phones, drive testing using Mobile Diagnostic Monitors to verify RF and CAI (protocol) compliance. Conduct specific compliance testing on live customer networks.
• Communicates with product developers and technical support specialists on product issues.
Qualifications:
• Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum: 1 year direct, related experience in quality engineering.
• Preferred: 2 years direct, related experience in quality or field engineering.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
• Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
