안경특구 지정을 통한 재도약!

한때 섬유와 더불어 대표적인 대구의 ‘효자산업’으로 통했던 안경산업이 ‘안경특구’ 지정

을 계기로 재도약하고 있다. 

2006년, 정부로부터 안경특구로 지정된 대구시 북구 침산동과 노원3가 일원은 전국 안경

테 제조업체의 81.5%가 몰려 있으며 안경업체의 전국 조합인 ‘한국광학협동조합’과 안경산

업의 연구개발ㆍ정보제공, 디자인 기술개발 등을 전담하는 ‘한국안경산업지원센터’가 위치

하고 있는 국내 안경산업의 중심지다. 뿐만 아니라 특화 사업의 추진과 홍보를 통해 특구

일원이 생산뿐 아니라 유통․ 소매의 중심지로 성장하고 있다.

이와 함께 안경산업 육성을 위한 ‘비전 2015’를 추진한다. 이 계획은 2015년까지 지역 안경

테 수출액 3억 달러(2004년 말 1억1,900만 달러)를 달성, 세계 안경테 시장의 7%를 점유하

겠다는 것이다. 또 패션 안경테 비중을 현재 10%대에서 50%대로 올리고 글로벌 안경테 브

랜드도 3개까지 육성할 계획이다. 지역특구 지정을 계기로 다양한 특화사업 프로젝트를 추

진해 대구를 세계적인 ‘안경도시’로 육성하기위해 노력중이다.

안경업계가 다양한 정보와 경험을 통해 산업체질을 바꿔야 하는 어려움에 봉착하면서

2004년, (재)한국안경산업지원센터를 설립했다. 주요사업으로는 크게 디자인․ 시험․ 가공장

비를 구축하고 안경 홍보관 등을 제공하는 인프라 구축사업, 신소재와 디자인, 애로공정기

술을 연구개발 및 마케팅 등을 담당하는 안경산업기술 개발사업,  DIOPS, 홍콩 국제 광학

전시회 지원 사업 등 전시회 사업으로 나눌 수 있다. 

 이 같은 도움을 통해 한국안경지원센터는 안경업계가 더욱 발전하고 글로벌 경쟁력을 갖

춘 한국안경산업이 될 수 있도록 이끌어 나가고 있다.

The rebound of optical industry by designation of special district.

Once one of the most representative industry in Daegu, optical along with fiber

industry, however, once again ready to rebound by designation of special district. 

North side of Daegu, Chim-San and third street of No-Won is designated as special

district for optical industry by central government where is the center of domestic

optical industry which concentrated 81.5% of the nationwide eye-glass frame

manufacturing industries and located a nationwide union of the eye-glass enterprise

and Koran optical industry support center which takes exclusive responsibility of the

research, providing information and developing design. And also they are growing

as center of circulation and retail sales by promoting specialized industry. With this

project, they promote 'vision 2015' for fostering optical industry.

This plan is attaining 300 millions Dollars(119 million Dollars by the end of 2004) from

local eye-glass frame export, and occupying 7% of world eye-glass frame market.

Also raise the fashion eyeglass frame from 10 to 50% and roster three global eye-

glass brand. As this opportunity, local government try to promote various of

specialized project so that roster Daegu as city of world wide 'optical industry

city'.

center

The Korean optical support center was established when they encounter that they

must change their constitution from difficulty base on variety of information and

experience. Their main enterprise is divided into three part. The first is constructing

design, test, processing equipment and constructing infra which provide public

information center for the eye-glass. The second is developing engineering

development enterprise which takes in charge of research, development and

marketing for the new material and design. The last part is DIOPS and exhibition

enterprise such as supporting Hong Kong national optical science exhibition. With all

these supports, Korean optical support center leads optical industry to equip a better

global competitive power.
