[샌디에고 풀뿌리운동 전체공지] Reflection of 2019 KAGC for a Better 2020~
- The first day of the conference was devoted to education, introducing important policy priorities in the Korean American community, such as US-Korea relations, adoptee rights, the economy, immigration, diversity, and voting rights. We learned the necessary skills to engage members of Congress, through workshops and a mock session of a meeting on Capitol Hill. We received tips and tricks from Korean American staffers on the Hill. Finally, we met in our small groups to prepare for our meetings with members of Congress the following day.
- The second day of the conference was devoted to action, putting our knowledge to the test. We were fortunate enough to meet with a representative of Senator Kamala Harris and Representative Scott Peters himself to discuss our policy priorities. After our visit to Capitol Hill, we returned to our hotel to listen to a panel discussion on the perspective of Korean American state and local legislators. We ended the night with a Gala Dinner, which invited 15 members of Congress.
- The third and final day of the conference was devoted to reflection, beginning with a guest speaker from the U.S. Census Bureau, who emphasized the importance of the 2020 census. KAGC Junior and KAGC U tracks heard from a panel of 2019 KAGC Congressional Fellows, who spoke of their recent experiences as interns on the Hill. Altogether, we heard from local election administrators about the importance of voting, particularly the importance of Korean voting ballots.
