제1회 SDKPA 청소년 워크샵 - 전후석 감독과 함께하는 코리안 디아스포라 워크샵
전세계 180개국에 걸쳐 750만명의 재외동포가 살아가고 있습니다. 19세기 중반부터 시작된 비교적 짧은 이주의 역사임에도 불구하고, 코리안 디아스포라는 전세계에서 가장 규모가 큰 재외동포사회중 하나를 이루고 있습니다.
샌디에고 한인학부모회에서는 우리 한인 청소년을 위한 코리안 디아스포라 온라인 워크샵을 개최합니다. 참가자는 워크샵 프로그램을 통해 영화 헤로니모를 미리 감상하고, 그룹토론 및 전후석 감독님의 강연을 듣게 됩니다. 뿐만 아니라, 다양한 공모전을 통해 실력과 열정 넘치는 학생들에게 푸짐한 상품을 수여할 계획입니다.
워크샵 일정: 9월27일 일요일 오후 4-6시 (시간은 변경될 수 있습니다)

워크샵 참여자는 선착순 50명으로 제한됩니다. 대상은 9-12학년 학생입니다. 모든 워크샵 참여자는 신청자에 한해 SDKPA가 발급하는 최대 5시간의 봉사시간인증서를 받을 수 있습니다. 워크샵 참여자와 별도로 5-6명의 자원봉사 고등학생을 선발합니다. 별도의 지원서는 없으며, 참가지원서 작성시 자원봉사 항목을 선택하시면 됩니다. 자원봉사 학생은 별도의 오리엔테이션과 리허설에 참여해야합니다. 자원봉사 학생은 최대 12시간의 봉사시간인증서를 받을 수 있습니다. 자원봉사 학생은 '최고의 패널' 부분을 제외한 모든 공모전에 참여할 수 있습니다.

전후석 감독님에 대하여
전후석 감독님은 재미한인 다큐멘터리 영화감독입니다. 4년간 KOTRA에서 지적재산권 변호사로 일해오시다가 우연한 기회에 쿠바에 배낭여행을 가게 되었고, 그곳에서 한인의 후예를 만나 그들의 발자취를 쫓아가며 영화 헤로니모를 제작하게 되었습니다. 영화 헤로니모는 전세계 12개 영화제에 초청되었고, 2019년 11월 한국에서 개봉하였습니다. 또한 전후석 감독님은 UC San Diego에서 영화를 전공하셨고, Syracuse 대학에서 JD를 받았습니다. 2020년 현재 차기작 Chosen을 준비하고 계십니다. The 1st SDKPA Youth Workshop - Korean Diaspora with Director Joseph Juhn
With over 7.5 million Koreans settled in 180 countries, people of Korean descent make up one of the most widespread diaspora in the world.The growth of the Korean diaspora came as a consequence of the events in modern Korean history, and despite its relatively short history from around the mid-nineteenth century it has become a world wide phenomenon.
SDKPA will proudly offer a new ONLINE workshop for our high school students, focusing on the topic of Korean Diaspora. This workshop program includes a film screening of the movie: JERONIMO and keynote presentation from the director, Joseph Juhn. In addition to the workshop event,there will be various contests where students may participate.
Workshop Date and Time: 9/27/2020 Sunday, 4 PM-6 PM (Time may change)

Workshop size is limited to 50 students. Acceptance is on a first-come, first-served basis. Open to 9-12th graders only. All participants may request a volunteer certificate issued by SDKPA, up to 5 hours.
SDKPA will elect 5-6 student staff volunteers. There is no separate application, but you have to check the "willing to volunteer" box in the registration form. Student staff volunteers must attend a dedicated orientation session and rehearsals. Volunteers receive up to 12 volunteer hours. Student staff volunteers are eligible to participate in all contests except for the best workshop panel election.

Please note that you are not registered in the workshop until you are notified with further information. You may be accepted as wait listed.

About the Director
Joseph Juhn is a Korean American documentary filmmaker. Joseph was working as a New York attorney for 4 years at a Korean government agency based in Manhattan, New York, prior to a serendipitous backpacking trip to Cuba in 2015. During the trip, he ran into a Korean descendant by chance, inspiring him to turn back to his old ambitions.
“JERONIMO” is Joseph’s first feature film and was selected at 12 film festivals around the world. JERONIMO had its theatrical release in Korea in November2019, drawing over 15,000 audiences nationwide and receiving one of the highest audience ratings in the year 2019. Joseph earned a BA in Film & Video at UCSan Diego, and a JD at Syracuse University College of Law.
