시간 :  7 ~ 8 pm

Japanese Friendship Bell Park

1401 Shelter Island Drive, Point Loma 92106

SAN DIEGO – San Diego County Indivisible and Interfaith Worker Justice San Diego will host a candlelight vigil in Point Loma to pray for peace as President Trump visits South Korea to address the nuclear crisis. North Korea has named Point Loma as a prime target for nuclear attack, due to its high concentration of military assets.

Trump has provoked Kim with reckless and bellicose rhetoric, threatening to depose “Little Rocket Man” Kim Jong-un and to destroy the nation with “fire and fury”. East County Congressman Duncan Hunter has repeatedly called for a first strike on North Korea to save San Diego, to be followed by a massive ground invasion by American troops. Kim has responded with more missile tests and threats, and the president of the Council on Foreign Relations estimates the risk of war between the US and North Korea to be 50/50. Citizens who oppose this rush to war will gather to call to the conscience of our leaders to stop the brinksmanship and find a peaceful way to avoid a second Korean War.

No to War with North Korea: Candlelight Vigil for Peace

Japanese Friendship Bell Park 1401 Shelter Island Drive Point Loma 92106

With a backdrop of North Island Naval Air Station, citizens will gather in a Shelter Island park dedicated to friendship between the U.S. and Japan, nations that were once mortal enemies. Speakers will address the moral imperative to avoid nuclear war and call for our leaders to pursue peaceful resolution of the North Korea conflict. People of faith will lead us in prayer for the millions of civilians in Seoul, Pyongyang, Tokyo, Guam and other regions at risk of a catastrophic war. Participants will pray for our troops stationed near the DMZ in South Korea, in Japan and Guam, and in Strike Groups positioned near the Korean Peninsula. Performers will sing, and all will join in a candlelight procession along the waterfront.
